I’m not sure how to even put a name to my Muse. It all began back in 2003 when I was fighting a losing battle with depression. Nothing seemed to make any difference in my life nor alleviate the symptoms. In 2002, we moved to Maryland, more than 2,000 miles away from everything I knew and frankly left the only comfort zone I had ever had. Adjusting to a new life, a new location and making new friends at 46 seemed to be more difficult than anything I had ever been faced with. Between 2002 and 2008 for one reason or another we moved SEVEN times.
In 2003, one of my clients (I’m a licensed cosmetologist, even though I no longer work in the salons) suggested I write about my life, put my thoughts to paper and see if I could make more sense of what I was going through. I began by keeping a pen and ink journal and quickly filled up one after another, after another. Not too long after I began, my fingers started cramping while trying to write so I moved on to the keyboard of our computer and filed everything away into Word documents.
During this same time, I was a member of a site called Vampire Rave (www.vampirerave.com) where I also had the opportunity to expand my very limited knowledge of computers and HTML design. I began by designing pages for my profile page and the various *houses* I belonged to. It’s rather exhilarating to finally get all that crazy coding right and see how fantastic the final project looks.
In 2008, my first blog Aoibheal’s Lair was born. I wrote about my life. Everything and anything that *burned* in my soul was given life by the stroke of my laptop keys. I didn’t then and to this day do not have a specific topic I write about. I’m passionate, outspoken and ornery. But the most important part for me is I write for ME. Yes, I’m thankful I have a few people who read the things I write and if my often times mindless ramblings can help to make a change, so much the better.
In March, I redesigned, rebranded and renamed my blog. You can now find me still writing about the things that *burn* in my heart and soul on The Feisty Witch. Fair warning: I’m not politicly correct, I don’t sugar coat things and I’m often over the top.
And my personal Muse? She’s just as Feisty as I am …
